April 30 Highway 165 DUI accident in Merced County

On April 30 Edgar Haro and Jose Atienzo-Quezada suffered minor and major injuries respectively in a suspected DUI accident on Highway 165 in Merced County. Reportedly Haro was driving southbound on Highway 165 when he turned left onto August Avenue and hit a car traveling northbound on Highway 165. The other vehicle was driven by Francisco Chavez. Jose Atienzo-Quezada was a passenger in Haro's vehicle and was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto to be treated for his injuries. Chavez was not injured in the accident. On April 26 Olivia Gutierrez was killed in a wrongful death accident on Road 72 and Avenue 430 in Tulare County near Dinuba. Reportedly Gutierrez was a passenger in a Jeep driven by a 17-year-old when the driver ran a stop sign at the intersection of Road 72 and Avenue 430. April 24 Highway 99 dui accident in Merced

On April 24 Andres Lopez was seriously injured in a suspected dui accident on Highway 99 in Merced. Lopez was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Virgilio Perez Cruz when the accident happened. April 26, 2010--At 1 pm yesterday 2 vehicles collided at Avenue 264 and Road 156 northeast of Tulare.  A westbound Tundra ran a stop sign and hit the car driven by Ronald Philpot, age 39 who was driving a utility truck.

Multi vehicle crash at Highway 99 and Highway 198 in Visalia

April 23, 2010--According to the Fresno Bee, the injury count for last night's multi-vehicle crash near Visalia is now at 7.  The accident was on southbound Highway 99 at Highway 198.  One as yet unnamed victim was air lifted to the hospital.  At least 4 vehicles were involved.  According to witness Katie Duncan, a cargo truck was stopped dead in the road.  Just previously there had been a nearby chemical spill.

On April 13 Jose Pedroza was injured in an accident on South Woodland Street in Visalia. On April 11 three cars were involved in an accident at Demaree Street and Visalia Parkway in Visalia. The accident occurred when a Honda Civic heading north on Demaree hit a Ford Expedition. The Expedition then hit a Jeep Liberty that was attempting to turn right onto Visalia Parkway. This caused the Liberty to jump the curb and hit a streetlight pole. The driver of the Liberty was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries and the driver of the Civic was examined by police and firefighters for injuries but denied further medical care. It is unclear whether the driver of the Civic or the Expedition caused the accident.

April 11 I-5 wrongful death accident in Newhall kills five

On April 11 five people, four of them children, were killed in a wrongful death accident on I-5. The accident occurred when a pickup spun out of control when the highway was slick due to rain. This caused a three-car pileup that killed five people and injured six others.  The pickup that initially spun out spun into the center divide and overturned. Then it was hit by a Nissan Altima  which was then hit by a Chevrolet Suburban. john Blackburn, the driver of the pickup, was killed in the accident. The driver of the Nissan, Francisco Enciso, and his passenger, Jessica Milan, were both seriously injured. The four children in the back seat of the Nissan, Xochitl Hernandez, Cynthia Hernandez, Edgar Hernandez, and Luis Villegas, were killed. The four people in the Suburban suffered minor injuries. Weather was definitely a contributing factor in this accident, but it most likely was not the only contributing factor. April 5 fatal accident on Highway 46 kills three

On April 5 three people were killed in a wrongful death accident on Highway 46 near Lost Hills. The accident was a head-on collision between a van and a Jeep Cherokee. On April 3 a man was killed in a wrongful death accident at the intersection of Caldwell Avenue and Ben Maddox Way in Visalia. Reportedly the man was driving eastbound on Caldwell in his Acura when he veered off the road and hit a traffic signal pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. On April 1 a motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a car on Court Street between Myrtle and Noble Avenues. Reportedly the car was turning into a driveway when the accident happened. March 30 pedestrian accident in Visalia on Highway 63

On March 30 Rafael Rivera was critically injured in a pedestrian accident on Highway 6 in Visalia. Reportedly Rivera, a transient, was hit by a Suburban while he was crossing Highway 63 between Sweet and Prospect Streets with his shopping cart.  Palemon Viera was the driver of the Suburban abd is being charged with felony hit and run charges after fleeing the scene of the accident. April 2 two car accident on Highway 168 in Fresno injures two

April 1 Fresno accident at San Jaoquin and Fulton blamed on Toyota Camry

On April 1 a Toyota Camry was involved in a bizarre accident at San Joaquin and Fulton in Fresno. Reportedly Hasmig Megerdichian was trying to park his Camry in front of a farmer's market when the car bounced over a curb, down an alley, over railroad ties back into the parking lot, before finally hitting a parked car which then hit another car. Megerdichian claims that she applied the brake but the car accelerated instead. A passenger in the Camry and a passenger in one of the cars that was hit complained of pain and were taken to a local hospital to be checked out. March 31 Highway 180 accident in Fresno

On March 31 Antonio Garza was seriously injured in an accident on Highway 180 at Brawley Avenue. Reportedly Garza failed to stop for a red light and hit a power pole. He was not wearing a seat belt and was partially thrown from the vehicle. The vehicle caught fire as a result of the accident and a witness pulled Garza from the car. On March 31 a five-year-old girl was hit by a car outside the police station in Merced. The girl had exited her father's vehicle and ran around the front. Meanwhile a Toyota Prius had just turned onto the street and the girl ran in front of the vehicle. On March 31 Kyle Strang and Prentice Gray Jr. were killed in a wrongful death accident involving a school bus in Richmond. Reportedly Strang was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center median and hit an oncoming school bus. There were no passengers in the bus and the driver was not hurt.
