Visalia accident on Caldwell

January 27, 2011--Thursday night a Visalia woman had her car sandwiched between two others--she was driving a Buick Regal on Caldwell near Court.  She was taken to Kaweah Delta hospital in Visalia as her car had absorbed most of the damage.

January 23 fatal motorcycle accident in Lemon Cove

On January 23 Visalia resident Jocelle Cleto was killed in a motorcycle accident on Highway 198 in Tulare County. According to reports Cleto was driving west on Highway 198 through Lemon Cove when he lost control of his motorcycle. He then slid into the eastbound lane and was hit by a Chrysler. At first CPR was successful at resuscitating Cleto, but he died after arriving at the hospital.

January 23 wrongful death Fresno fog accident

On January 23 Miguel Gaona died in a fog accident in Fresno. According to reports Gaona was driving near the intersection of North Veterans Avenue and North Hayes Avenue south of Herndon  Avenue in heavy fog when his vehicle hit a brick wall. Gaona was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. No further details are available at this time.

January 23 wrongful death pedestrian accident in Fresno

On January 23 a 20-year-old man died after being hit by a truck while crossing Nees Avenue in Fresno. According to reports the man was crossing Nees Avenue between Blackstone and Poplar Avenues around 7pm when he was hit by a pickup truck. He was then taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he later died.

January 24 Fresno County fog accident near Reedley on Manning Avenue

On January 24 there was a fog accident involving a big rig and a pickup truck near Reedley on Manning Avenue. According to reports the pickup truck and the big rig crashed and ended up down an embankment near the intersection of Manning and Lac Jac Avenues. Due to foggy conditions, visibility at the time of the accident was reported to be around 300 feet. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Community Regional Medical Center to be treated for unknown injuries. Later  in the day four separate, reportedly unrelated, chain-reaction accidents happened near the same intersection.

January 18 Visalia accident on Caldwell


On January 18 there was an accident between a Toyota Rav 4 and a Dodge pickup on Caldwell avenue in Visalia. Reportedly the accident happened near the intersection of Caldwell Avenue and Shady Street and blocked the westbound lanes of Caldwell Avenue for a time. The driver of the Toyota reported minor injuries after the accident. No further information regarding the cause of the accident or the identities of the persons involved is available at this time.

January 17 wrongful death big rig accident in Fresno

On January 17 Dr. Robb Smith was killed in a wrongful death accident involving a big rig at Temperance and North Avenues in Fresno. Reportedly Smith was driving south on Temperance approaching the stop sign intersection at North Avenue. Meanwhile Fidel Solano was driving west on North Avenue approaching Temperance. Solano had the right of way at the intersection when Smith slammed into the side of the big rig. Smith died at the scene of the accident.

January 18 school bus accident in Merced County injures one


On January 18 a 64-year-old man was injured when his car was involved in an accident with a Merced County Office of Education school bus near Yosemite Avenue and El Redondo Drive. Reportedly the school bus was stopped in the eastbound lane of Yosemite Avenue preparing to make a left turn onto El Redondo Drive when the Camry was westbound on Yosemite. It is believed that the Camry ran a stop sign and ran into the side of the bus. The driver of the Camry was airlifted to the hospital. The three students and the driver on the bus were not injured. No further details are available at this time.

January 14 fatal pedestrian accident in Livingston

On January 14 a man was killed after being hit by a Freightliner on Highway 99 near Winton Parkway in Merced County. Reportedly the Freightliner was driving south on Highway 99 carrying a double trailer full of wine when a man was crossing the road going west and stepped in front of the big rig. The driver of the big rig, Martin Muniz applied the brakes and turned the big rig but was unable to avoid hitting the man. The victim suffered major injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center where he later died. The driver of the big rig was not injured in the accident.

January 8 dog bite incident in Kern County

On January 8 three-year-old Naveah Sherrell was bitten by a dog while playing in her aunt's front yard on Mount View Avenue in Taft. Reportedly Naveah was playing with two other children in the fenced-in yard when the dog, who had escaped from his yard, came up to the fence. The children were feeding the dog bread. then the other children came inside to report that Naveah had been bitten. Her aunt, Katrina Phillips, rushed outside and saw Naveah's face bleeding and reported that she "could see her bones and flesh." Naveah was taken to urgent care for medical attention then taken via ambulance to Kern Medical Center. The dog, described as a 160-pound English Mastiff named Daytona. Daytona did not have a prior record of aggressive behavior and was placed on quarantine for 10 days.

January 13 big rig accident in Fresno


On January 13 there was an accident on Fulton Street at Divisadero Street in Fresno involving a big rig and a car. One woman was hospitalized with injuries resulting from the accident. Part of Fulton Street was blocked for a time following the accident. No further information regarding the cause of the accident or identities of the persons involved is available at this time.

January 2 fatal Fresno accident details revealed

On January 2 Jeffrey Anderson was killed in a wrongful death accident when his vehicle hit a pillar on Sierra Avenue under Highway 168 in Fresno. Reportedly Anderson had a blood alcohol level of .21, nearly three times the legal limit, as well as hints of THC, a substance in marijuana in his blood at the time of the accident. He was killed as a result of the accident. His two passengers were taken to Community Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries.

December 30 wheelchair versus SUV accident in Fresno

On December 30 a woman in a motorized wheelchair was hit by an SUV in north Fresno. She was then dragged about 20 feet. According to reports the accident happened around noon at the intersection of Blackstone Avenue and Minarets Avenue. The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition. No further information is available at this time.

December 31 Lindsay wrongful death accident

On December 31 a woman was killed in a wrongful death accident near the intersection of Hickory Street and Foothill Avenue in Lindsay. According to reports the victim was driving her Toyota eastbound on Hickory Street when she stopped at a stop sign. She then turned left into the path of a GMC driven by Layton Blue. Blue applied the brake on his vehicle but was unable to stop in time. Blue was hospitalized with minor injuries and the driver of the Toyota was killed as a result of the accident. The identity of the driver of the Toyota has not been released.

January 1 Madera County accident ends in electrocution

On January 1 there was a single-vehicle accident involving a Mazda pickup on Road 268 near Leach Road in Madera County. According to reports the truck was traveling very fast on wet pavement when the driver, a 14-year-old girl, lost control of the truck and hit a power pole. The pole fell due to the impact. The driver and her 13-year-old passenger were not injured in the accident. However, after the accident the driver left the vehicle and stepped on a live electrical wire that had been knocked down in the accident. The electrocution from the live wire killed her.

January 2 wrongful death accident in Clovis

On January 2 Jeffrey Anderson was killed in a wrongful death accident in Clovis. According to reports Anderson was driving on Sierra Avenue when he hit a pillar while traveling under Highway 168. Anderson was killed as a result of the accident. Two other passengers were in the vehicle and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center. January 2 Highway 198 wrongful death accident in Three Rivers in Tulare County

On January 2 a man was killed in a single-vehicle wrongful death accident on Highway 198 in Three Rivers in Tulare County. According to reports Joel Mathy was eastbound on Highway 198 when he drifted off the road near the intersection with Eggers Drive. The driver then over-corrected, lost control of the vehicle, traveled down an embankment and hit a tree. The victim was riding as a passenger in Mathy’s vehicle. Neither person was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. After the accident Mathy walked to a nearby restaurant to get help. Mathy was later arrested for suspected dui.

Pedestrian death in Porterville

January 4, 2011--A Porterville man was struck and killed this mornimg on Avenue 152 near Cedar Road.  The car was driven by 19 year old Jair Rodriguez also of Porterville.  The victim was pushing a shopping cart,

Fresno crash--Lincoln hits tree in Tower District

January 3, 2011-One person was injured this morning when a vehicle struck a tree in the Tower District in Fresno.  The driver of a Lincoln hit a tree in the median on Olive near Echo.

Fatal crash near visalia

January 2, 2011--A one-car collision near Visalia Sunday night claimed one life.  The vehicle was driven by Joel Mathy of Three Rivers who reportedly had been drinking.  The 45 year old passenger suffered a broken neck.  The accident was on Highway 198 near Eggers Drive.

Lindsay woman killed in crash

December 31, 2010--A two vehicle crash on Hickory Street in Lindsay resulted in the death of a 54 year old Lindsay woman.  She reportedly was attempting a left turn when she veered into the oncoming car driven by Layton Blue, age 18.
