March 29 Visalia accident at McAuliff and College Avenues


On March 29 a woman suffered major injuries when her vehicle hit a stationary SUV on McAuliff Avenue near College Avenue in Visalia. According to reports the woman hit the SUV while it was waiting to turn left on McAuliff. The impact of the accident pushed the SUV about 40 yards. The driver and two passengers in the SUV escaped the accident uninjured. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia to be treated for her injuries.

March 28 Los Banos accident kills Visalia woman

On March 28 Andrea Hernandez of Visalia died in a hit and run accident near Los Banos on Highway 152. According to reports Hernandez was driving east on Highway 152 in the slow lane when a vehicle in the fast lane began to pass her. Then the other vehicle crossed into the slow lane forcing Hernandez off the road. Hernandez went off the road, over-corrected her vehicle, and hit a power pole. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the other vehicle left the scene of the accident. Police have found a possible suspect in the wrongful death accident but have not made any arrests yet.

March 26 fatal accident in Tulare County near Dinuba

On March 26 Carmen Tovar died in a fatal accident near Dinuba in Tulare County. According to reports Tovar was driving a Honda west on Avenue 416 near Road 104 in Tulare County when she moved into the lane to the right of her and hit a Nissan. Both the Honda and the Nissan went off the road and each hit a tree. Tovar suffered fatal injuries in the accident. The passenger in her vehicle, Jessica Gutierrez, suffered minor injuries. Eliseo Pena was the driver of the Nissan. Pena and his passenger refused medical treatment.

March 18 accident at R and 13th Streets in Merced

On March 18 there was a two-vehicle accident at 13th and R Streets in Merced. According to reports the accident involved a Lincoln Navigator and a Ford Expedition. All of the four people in the Expedition escaped the accident uninjured. One of the two people in the Navigator was injured. The injured person was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Merced to be treated for her injuries. No further information regarding the cause of the accident is available at this time.

March 18 Merced accident is suspected dui

On March 18 one person was injured in an accident on R Street in Merced. According to reports Shaneil Pollard was driving her vehicle on R Street when she hit another vehicle. A passenger in her vehicle was injured and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Pollard was arrested for suspected driving under the influence.

March 18 Merced rollover accident

On March 18 a woman was injured when her vehicle rolled over in a two-vehicle accident at O and 18th Streets in Merced. According to reports a small green SUV was traveling south on O Street when it hit a truck which was eastbound on 18th Street. The accident caused the SUV to spin and flip onto its side. The driver of the SUV was trapped and had to be cut out of the vehicle through the roof. She was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Merced to be treated for her injuries.

March 21 accident on Scenic Drive in Modesto


On March 21 a woman and her dog were injured in an accident in Modesto. According to reports the woman was driving east on Scenic Drive when, for unknown reason, she lost control of her vehicle. Then she hit a light pole near Bodem Street and knocked it over. The driver was pinned in her vehicle until rescue crews removed the door and pulled her out. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries. The dog in the vehicle dog was taken by animal control officers to a local shelter.

March 18 wrongful death trailer truck accident kills Turlock man

On March 18 John Jurevich of Turlock died in an accident involving his tractor trailer in the Bay Area. Reportedly his tractor-trailer hit a tree and turned over on a freeway ramp in San Leandro. The accident did not seem to involve any other vehicles and slowed traffic for hours. Further information about the accident are unavailable at this time.

March 7 fatal accident in Squaw Valley kills two

An accident that occurred on March 7 near Squaw Valley has claimed the life of Lila Carreon. According to reports a stolen Subaru hit a utility pole on George Smith Road near Highway 180  near Squaw Valley on March 7. James King was killed in that accident. Four people were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. One of the passengers in that vehicle, Lila Carreon, died on March 18 from injuries that had resulted from the accident. The driver of the vehicle was arrested right after the accident on suspicion of driving under the influence. No further information is available at this time.

March 1 accident at Lincoln Oval Park in Visalia claims one life

The accident that happened in March 1 near Lincoln Oval Park in Visalia has claimed the life of Alice Davison. Reportedly Davison was driving east on Pearl Street near Lincoln Oval Park when she probably failed to stop completely at the stop sign on Pearl at N.W. Second Avenue. Her car was then hit by a Nissan Altima and a Dodge Durango in the intersection. The drivers of the Altima and Durango were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical center in Visalia to be treated for injuries. Davison was taken to Kaweah Delta and then transferred to Community Regional Medical Center in Visalia. She suffered a shattered pelvis, punctured lung, broken shoulder, and brain damage. She was in a coma for two weeks before she died. Neighbors who live near Lincoln Oval Park say that intersection is dangerous as people often speed through there from Dinuba Boulevard headed to downtown Visalia. Residents are saying a traffic signal is necessary at that intersection.

March 4 bicycle accident in Merced kills a seven-year-old girl

On March 4 Joanna Topete was killed when she was hit by a car while riding her bike in Merced. According to reports Joanna was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk near the Sunny View Apartments on D Street in Merced when she turned into the parking lot of the apartment complex. Joanna was then hit by a truck. The truck was leaving the parking lot as Joanna entered. She died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the truck stopped and got out to help Joanna. He was not driving under the influence at the time of the accident.

March 4 fatal rollover accident in Stanislaus County

On March 4 one man was killed and five other people were injured in a rollover accident on I-5 near Newman in Stanislaus County. According to reports Paula Jacobo was traveling north on I-5 in a Ford Expedition when she made a sudden lane change. Then she sharply turned left and lost control of the vehicle. The Expedition then left the road and rolled over. She was traveling with an adult male passenger and four children. The man and three of the four children in the vehicle were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.  The three unbuckled children were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. The driver and the fourth child were wearing seat belts and only suffered minor injuries. However, the man was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

March 6 Strathmore head-on collision

On March 6 there was an accident on Road 224 near Avenue 176 near Strathmore in Tulare County. The accident seriously injured one person and moderately injured two others. According to reports Antonio Pezzi and Megan Wiechmann of Sacramento were driving north on Road 224 when Pezzi saw an animal in the road. He then swerved right to avoid hitting the animal and swerved back onto the road and into the southbound lane. Then the vehicle Pezzi was driving hit a Honda driven by Abdur Razaq of Porterville. Razaq was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he was treated for major injuries. Ghulum Mustafa was a passenger in Razaq's vehicle. Mustafa and Pezzi both suffered moderate injuries. Wiechmann escaped uninjured.

March 7 fatal accident in Tulare County

On March 7 a woman from Goshen was killed in a fatal accident on Highway 63 between Avenues 336 and 328 in Tulare County. According to reports the woman was driving north on Highway 63 when her Honda Civic drifted into the southbound lane. Her Honda then hit an Infinity G20 in a head-on collision. The driver of the Infinity suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The driver of the Honda, however, died in the accident.

Sanger Fatal Accident after Stop Sign was run

March 3, 2011--Last night's accident near Sanger sounds very familiar.  A fatal accident occurred near Sanger about 2 years ago where the stop sign was blocked by orange tree branches---one died and 6 others were seriously hurt in that prior accident.  Litigation is still pending.

In yesterday's accident the driver of a Toyota ran a stop sign at Del Rey and North Avenues just before 7pm.  The Hmong victims were identified as Shoua Vang and Yong Vang, both in their mid-fifties.  Five others were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

March 1 accident at Lincoln Oval Park in Visalia injures three


On March 1 Alice Davison was put in critical condition and two other people were injured in a three-vehicle colision at Pearl Street and N.W. Second Avenue on the Oval in Visalia. Reportedly Davison was eastbound on Pearl Street when she possibly failed to stop completely at the stop sign at Pearl and N.W. Second Avenue. She was then hit by two vehicles which were southbound on N.W. Second Avenue, a Dodge Durango and a Nissan Altima.  Davison suffered a shattered pelvis and was transferred from Kaweah Delta Medical Center to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Jason Medina was the driver of the Durango. His young daughter in the vehicle was not injured, but he was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. The driver of the Altima was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center as a precaution. Witnesses to the accident said the intersection is dangerous and needs to be fixed.

March 2 bicycle accident in Visalia

On March 2 a 16-year-old suffered a broken leg after being hit by a car while riding her bike. Reportedly the victim was riding south on Ben Maddox Way near Douglas Avenue in Visalia. She was riding against the northbound traffic when she was hit by a northbound vehicle after crossing in front of the vehicle. She suffered a broken leg as a result of the accident.
