Pickup Crashes into Crane Truck in Kern County on Highway 58 and Palomas Road

On Tuesday, February 17, 2015, a big rig accident killed two people in Buttonwillow, California.  The vehicle collision happened in Kern County, on Highway 58, at approximately 7:15 AM.

Carrie Rae Gilliard was driving a pickup truck with her passenger, Joshua Shane Shepherd.  The truck was headed north on Palomas Road, when it ran the stop sign at Highway 58.

Gilliard's vehicle smashed into a crane truck, driven by a 21 year old man from Bakersfield.  The impact of the crash pushed the vehicles into concrete walls and a power pole.  The truck and freight-liner came to rest in the yard of someone's residence.

Gilliard and Shepherd were partially thrown from the pickup truck.  They both died at the scene of the accident.

The Bakersfield man was not hurt.

Issues still remaining to be investigated include determining the speed of the big rig, whether road conditions may have contributed to this accident, and whether the facts of this accident as reported are accurate.  If you would like these issues investigated further then please call Attorney John Rozier, your lawyer for all car collisions, at 559-713-0159  or reach us at www.nelsonrozier.com
