Box Truck Driver Killed in Vehicle Accident in Visalia, on Caldwell Avenue

An update to the truck collision that happened on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, in Tulare County.  The fiery vehicle accident killed the driver of what has now been reported as a Proteus box truck.  The Visalia crash took place on Caldwell Avenue, west of Akers Street, at approximately 2:10 PM.

The roadway in front of Turnberry Place on Caldwell Ave. turns from two lanes into one, causing some issues with traffic having trouble merging. A Proteus transport truck was driving west on Caldwell Avenue, when it did not merge into the one lane.

The box truck ran head-on into a Southern California Edison dump truck that was parked at the side of the road, facing towards the oncoming traffic.  The vehicle then caught fire, and was soon completely engulfed in flames.

The driver, who worked for Proteus, Inc., was pronounced dead at the scene.  Officials reported that it wasn't immediately clear whether the driver of the transport truck died from the impact of the collision, or once the vehicle was on fire.

Officers have the accident under investigation.
