Senate pushed to ban texting while driving nation wide

On January 26 the Transportation Department announced a ban on texting for all truckers and bus drivers. The announcement also called for President Obama to ban texting by all motorists. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, 6,000 people were killed nation wide last year by distracted drivers. Another half million people were injured. Laws banning texting are already in place in 18 states. However, Senators are asking for a nationwide ban. The dangers of texting and driving have been proven time and time again.
