Tulare County Vehicle Accident on Avenue 196 and Road 256

July 23, 2014- An SUV accident in Tulare County, leaves two hurt at a busy rural intersection.  The vehicle collision happened on Wednesday, at about 2:15 PM, east of Strathmore.

It is reported that a 2005 Toyota Sport Utility Vehicle, was being driven by a 17 year old Terra Bella girl, drove through a marked stop sign at the intersection of Road 256 and Avenue 196.  The SUV was hit by a 1994 Chevy Corvette, driven by Ardith Cowdery of Visalia, that was traveling east on Avenue 196.

The California Highway Patrol said that both vehicles were driving at over 60 mph when they collided.  The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to rollover, and stop on its side.  While both cars came to rest on the southwest corner of the roadway.

A passenger in the SUV, a 16 year old girl from Lindsay, and a passenger in the Chevrolet, Charlene Bernice Cowdery of Visalia, where both injured and taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.

The CHP reported that the intersection of Road 256 and Avenue 196 have been the scene of quite a few serious collisions of the past few years.
