Bakersfield Accident on Highway 99 Proves Fatal

April 25, 2014- A one vehicle collision ends fatally in Kern County, on Highway 99.  The accident took place on Friday, in Bakersfield, at about 9 PM.  Wet road conditions are said to be to blame for the crash.

James Derrick Gray, the driver of a black, Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling soutbound on Highway 99 south of Highway 65, near 7th Standard Road.  Gray lost control of the truck, left the highway, and the pickup smashed into a light pole and a tree.

Gray was trapped in his vehicle, and died after the truck caught on fire.
