United States Postal Service Vehicle Crash, in Porterville, Ends in Fatality

April 3, 2015- A fatal collision that involved a U.S. mail truck took place in Porterville, on Friday.  The Tulare County vehicle crash killed an 18-month-old boy, on Delta Street, at approximately 1:30 PM.

The United States postal service truck was driving in the around Aurora Avenue, and Delta St., delivering mail.  A toddler, T.J. Trevino was in his front yard on Delta, with his family, when he was reported to have darted out into the road.

The mail truck was stopped to deliver the post and pulled away from the sidewalk just as T.J. ran out from his yard.  The vehicle struck the small child.

T.J. was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to Sierra View Medical Center, in Porterville.  He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.

Issues still remaining to be investigated include determining the speed of the mail truck, whether road conditions may have contributed to this accident, and whether the facts of this accident as reported are accurate.
