September 1, 2011- Two people and an unborn baby were killed after a head-on crash Thursday night near Bakersfield.
The CHP said that at approximately 9:40 PM, Tanner Tom, from Artesia, was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse north on State Route 14, north of State Route 178, when he drove into the southbound lane.
The Eclipse collided head-on with a Toyota Camry headed south, driven by Joel Yanez, of Mammoth Lakes. Yanez was critically injured.
Tom, and a female passenger, Debra Tom, also of Artesia, were killed. And an additional occupant of that vehicle, Angela Navejas, of Homeland, CA suffered major injuries. Navejas was pregnant and the baby did not survive.
A 5-year-old boy, also an occupant in the Mitsubishi, was critically injured and airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Fresno.
Officers said the investigation indicated that the Eclipse crossed over into the southbound lane possibly in an attempt to pass slower moving vehicles.
Everyone was wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor.
Please give us a call, if you are a relative or are in touch with the family, and would like us to investigate this accident further. I am here to meet all your legal needs. Attorney John Rozier 559-713-0159.
