September 23, 2011- A pickup truck collided with a school bus in Patterson, north of Fresno, on Friday at about 3:30 PM.
The crash happened at the intersection of Sperry Avenue and Baldwin Road. Christopher Cerda, of Patterson, was driving a 2002 Chevy truck east on Sperry approaching Baldwin Rd. The 2010 Chevrolet school bus driven by Venus Goodiel, of Salida, was driving south on Baldwin, towards Sperry Ave.
Reportedly Cerda failed to stop for a red light. As Cerda entered the intersection, the vehicles collided. The truck’s left front corner struck the school bus in the right front corner.
There were four passengers on the bus. Three students and one school aide, Coral Webb, of Modesto. Goodiel, Webb, and one of the students suffered minor injuries. The injured child was taken by ambulance to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.
Cerda was not injured. Alcohol or drugs were said not to be a factor in the accident.
