Kern County Collision near Lamont ends Fatally

March 24, 2014- A two vehicle accident near Lamont, south of Bakersfield, leaves one dead and others injured.  The crash happened Monday afternoon, at the intersection of Edison Road and DiGiorgio Road, in Kern County.

A Honda Civic, driven by Enrique Monarez, 38 years old from Bakersfield, was driving on Edison Rd.  He ran a stop sign, and the Civic broadsided a red, Nissan truck that was driven by Jesus Coronado, 64, of Arvin, who had no stop sign on DiGiorgio Rd.

The impact of the collision caused the Nissan to be pushed off the road and then the vehicle flipped over.  A passenger in the pickup, San Juana Coronado, 48 years old, also of Arvin, was ejected during the crash and died from her wounds in the hospital.

Jesus Coronado sustained seriously injuries, while another passenger in the Nissan, Doroteo McCain, received minor injuries.  The Honda's driver, Enrique Monarez, was moderately hurt in the accident.
