The driver of the Toyota said he tried to not hit her, but saw her after it was too late.  Police report that the driver was going the speed limit at the time of the crash, and cooperated with officers.  Officials said the teenager was wearing dark clothes and walking in an area that was poorly lit, and not in a crosswalk.

The pedestrian has been taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.  It is reported that she has suffered serious injuries.
