January 31, 2012- A three car crash closed Highway 41 for over an hour, near North Fork, northeast of Fresno. The accident occurred early Tuesday, at about 3:50 AM.
Lawrence Kaprielian, of Fresno, was driving a Chevy HHR, southbound on Highway 41, just south of the Road 200 turnoff.
Matthew Stewart, was driving a Toyota Rav 4, north on the highway.
Kaprielian drifted into the northbound lane and crashed into the left side of the Toyota, and then continued to drive and slammed into a Hyundai Sonata, driven by Freddie Leon-Guerrero, of Fresno, who was driving right behind the Toyota.
The Chevy and Toyota blocked both directions of the highway, and the impact of the collision pushed the Hyundai about 100 feet off the road.
Kaprielian suffered serious injuries and he was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.
Stewart and Leon-Guerrero had major and moderate injuries, respectively. They were both taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center, also in Fresno.
Hwy 41 was closed for over an hour, while the wreckage was cleared and the site was investigated.
The Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of the collision. They reported that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
