Pedestrian Death in Vehicle Accident on First Street, Fresno

May 16, 2014- A pedestrian fatality in a car collision, on Friday night.  The accident took place in central Fresno, at about 9:15 PM.

Frank Delacruz, 51 years old, of Fresno, was standing on the center divide of First Street, between Shields and Dakota avenues, at Dayton Avenue.  He stepped into the southbound lanes, directly in front of traffic.  It is reported that he was waving his arms and yelling.

A Chrysler, driven by a 60 year old woman, did not see Delacruz until it was too late.  The vehicle hit him head-on.  After the collision, the driver immediately stopped and attempted to help.

Delacruz was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
