Double Big Rig Collision Spills Chemical Onto Freeway, on Highway 99, in Bakersfield

August 26, 2015- A double big rig crash happened in Bakersfield, on Wednesday.  The Kern County semi truck collision spilled chemicals onto Highway 99, at around 6:30 AM.

The California Highway Patrol reported that one of the tractor-trailers was driving a little too fast on northbound Highway 99.  It crashed into the back of the other semi on the freeway, near Lerdo Highway.

The impact of the collision caused the load of one of the rigs to spill all over the roadway.  The material the vehicle carried was corrosive.  Hazmat crews were at the scene to clean up the chemicals.

No reports of any injuries at this time.
