Tulare County Vehicle Accident on Avenue 196 and Road 256

July 23, 2014- An SUV accident in Tulare County, leaves two hurt at a busy rural intersection.  The vehicle collision happened on Wednesday, at about 2:15 PM, east of Strathmore.

It is reported that a 2005 Toyota Sport Utility Vehicle, was being driven by a 17 year old Terra Bella girl, drove through a marked stop sign at the intersection of Road 256 and Avenue 196.  The SUV was hit by a 1994 Chevy Corvette, driven by Ardith Cowdery of Visalia, that was traveling east on Avenue 196.

The California Highway Patrol said that both vehicles were driving at over 60 mph when they collided.  The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to rollover, and stop on its side.  While both cars came to rest on the southwest corner of the roadway.

A passenger in the SUV, a 16 year old girl from Lindsay, and a passenger in the Chevrolet, Charlene Bernice Cowdery of Visalia, where both injured and taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.

The CHP reported that the intersection of Road 256 and Avenue 196 have been the scene of quite a few serious collisions of the past few years.

Strathmore Vehicle Accident Leaves Serious Injuries on Road 256

March 17, 2014- A car collision in Tulare County happened on Monday, when one vehicle ran a stop sign in Strathmore.  The accident occurred at about 6:20 PM.

Salvador Maciel, was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra truck, south on Road 256, also known as Lynch Drive.  Maciel, 35 years old, drove through the intersection of Road 256, and Avenue 196, without stopping at the stop sign.  The driver broadsided a 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette, driven by Maria Salas, 58 years old.

The CHP reported that the front of the Oldsmobile collided into the right side of the Sierra truck.  There is no stop sign on Avenue 196, so the minivan had the right of way.

Maria Salas and two passengers; Francisca Ambriz Vasquez, and Angel Salas, suffered minor to major injuries.  Salvador Maciel sustained minor injuries.  Maria Salas has been treated and released from Kaweah Delta Medical Center, in Visalia.

The crash remains under investigation.

September 27 accident in Strathmore

On September 27 one person was seriously injured in an accident on Avenue 196 in Tulare County. According to reports the accident happened when Dustin Reed turned in front of a vehicle driven by Joshua Plunk. Plunk was eastbound on Avenue 196 when Reed was westbound on Avenue 196 and attempting to turn onto Road 256 turned right in front of Plunk. Plunk’s truck then overturned into a field. The two passengers suffered minor injuries.

June 22 rollover accident near Porterville

On June 22 David Crouse was critically injured and three others suffered minor injuries in an accident on Road 256 near Porterville in Tulare County. According to reports, Crouse was driving a Peterbilt that was hauling two trailers when he hit a Toyota driven by Rosalinda Preciado. Preciado was attempting to turn right off of Road 256 at the time of the accident. The impact of the accident caused both the truck and the Toyota to rollover. Crouse was critically injured and was then taken via helicopter to Community Regional Medical Center. Preciado and her two passengers, L. Ellis and C. Alvarez, were all hospitalized with minor injuries. www.nelsonrozier.com
