May 23, 2014- A bicyclist from Visalia was struck and killed by a vehicle, in Tulare County, on Friday. The car accident happened near Ivanhoe, at about 9:30 PM.
The 58 year old man was riding his bike west on Avenue 328, east of Road 156. Jose Rivas, 48 years old, was driving his 1999 Honda Accord, westbound on Avenue 328, and hit the biker, while going approximately 45 mph. After the impact with the vehicle, the Visalia bicyclist was thrown from the cycle.
The bike rider was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno. He died in the hospital from his injuries.

Pontiac Rear-ends Big Rig on Road 124
September 1, 2011- A Pontiac Grand Prix was involved in a crash on Road 124 north of Avenue 328, near Visalia, on Thursday. John Penner, of Visalia, the driver of the Pontiac, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after his car crashed into the back of a semi truck carrying a tractor. Both vehicles were driving south on Road 124, when the accident happened.

Highway 99 Crash Lands Semi Truck in Canal
August 31, 2011- A driver of a semi truck from Ohio, was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, after his truck crashed on Highway 99, in Tulare County.
The big rig driver, Jay D. Allen, was driving northbound on Hwy 99, on Tuesday morning, north of Avenue 328. His Peterbuilt truck drifted onto a dirt shoulder at about 60 mph. Allen lost control and the rig entered a dry canal, called Cross Creek, and slammed into the embankment.
Allen’s injuries were moderate. His semi truck was completely destroyed.

Highway 99 Crash Between Goshen and Traver
August 13, 2011- A crash Saturday night was reported on southbound Highway 99 at Avenue 328, about 15 minutes from Visalia, between Goshen and Traver.
A driver of a white 1996 Toyota Corolla, Henry Carrillo, III, told police he fell asleep at the wheel and the automobile veered right onto the shoulder of the highway and hit a tree, at around 8 PM.
It was reported that Carrillo suffered a broken right arm and hand lacerations. One of the passengers, Henry Carrillo, Jr., broke his left arm and had lacerations to his head. While Marina Carrillo, the third passenger in the vehicle, complained of neck and back pain. All three victims were taken by ambulance to Kaweah Delta hospital for treatment.
According to the CHP alcohol did not play a part in this crash.

March 7 fatal accident in Tulare County
On March 7 a woman from Goshen was killed in a fatal accident on Highway 63 between Avenues 336 and 328 in Tulare County. According to reports the woman was driving north on Highway 63 when her Honda Civic drifted into the southbound lane. Her Honda then hit an Infinity G20 in a head-on collision. The driver of the Infinity suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The driver of the Honda, however, died in the accident.

December 11 wrongful death motorcycle accident in Tulare County near Visalia
On December 11 a motorcycle rider died in a wrongful death accident on Avenue 328 at Road 156 near Visalia in Tulare County. According to reports the motorcycle was traveling east on Avenue 328 when it hit a Saturn which was southbound on Road 156. Supposedly both drivers had stopped at the intersection but then both had proceeded into the intersection at the same time. The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike, suffered serious injuries, airlifted to a hospital in Fresno, and later died. Four people in the Saturn sustained minor injuries.

May 25 wrongful death accident on Road 80 near Visalia
On May 25 a woman was killed in a head-on collision on Road 80 in northwest Visalia. Reportedly the woman was driving a Toyota Avalon on Road 80 near Avenue 328 when she hit a big rig head-on. The big rig was northbound and the Avalon was southbound when the Avalon drifted into the northbound lane. The driver of the Avalon died at the scene of the accident. May 3 Visalia bicycle accident on Highway 63
On May 3 Timothy Rizzo from Visalia was seriously injured when he was hit from behind by a car while riding his bicycle on Highway 63. The accident happened just north of Avenue 328. Reportedly the driver of the Honda Accord drifted onto the shoulder of the road and hit Rizzo. Rizzo was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with injuries to his head. www.nelsonrozier.com

Visalia Bicyclist suffers major injuries

Road 156 and Avenue 328 accident
Intersection accidents such as this morning's 2 vehicle collision at Road 156 and Avenue 328 near Ivanhoe are common on Tulare County roadways. A similar accident occurred last weekend also involving a stop sign. Ivanhoe accident at Avenue 328 and Road 156 in Tulare County
January 14, 2010--According to them Fresno Bee, a two car accident this morning sent a woman to Kaweah Delta District Hospital in Visalia with major head injuries. The collision took place at the intersection of Road 156 and Avenue 328 near Ivanhoe in Tulare County. The man and the woman in the other car were less injured.
We have been to the scene of this accident just a few moments ago and the stop signs do not seem to be blocked. The next obvious step will be to download the event data recorders connected to the airbags in each vehicle to determine pre-impact speeds, braking, etc. These are also known at black box data recorders.
