Car Accident on Friant Road Ends Fatally for Bicyclist in Fresno

Central California Vehicle Accident Attorney John L. Rozier has the following report; On Thursday, February 19, 2015, a bike rider was killed in Fresno.  The car and bicycle collision took place at around 6 PM, on Friant Road.

A 2011 Mercedes, driven by a 16 year old, was headed south on Friant Road, at about 60-70 mph.

A 52 year old bicyclist, Nick Bukilica, was riding his bike northbound on Friant.  Bukilica attempted to make a left turn onto Old Friant Road, when the Mercedes ran into him.

The police said that the teenager did not see Bukilica, until he was struck on the right side of the bike.  At the time of the accident, it is reported that the streets were not well lit.

The bicyclist died at the scene of the collision.

Fatal Car and Bike Collision near Ivanhoe on Avenue 328

May 23, 2014- A bicyclist from Visalia was struck and killed by a vehicle, in Tulare County, on Friday.  The car accident happened near Ivanhoe, at about 9:30 PM.

The 58 year old man was riding his bike west on Avenue 328, east of Road 156.  Jose Rivas, 48 years old, was driving his 1999 Honda Accord, westbound on Avenue 328, and hit the biker, while going approximately 45 mph.  After the impact with the vehicle, the Visalia bicyclist was thrown from the cycle.

The bike rider was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.  He died in the hospital from his injuries.

Northwest Fresno Accident Leaves Biker Fatally Wounded

May 5, 2014- A fatality occurred Monday in Fresno, after a pickup truck crashed into a bicyclist.  The collision happened at about 3:30 PM.

The accident took place near West Locust Avenue, and Palm Bluffs Avenue.  A white Ford pickup truck struck the man on the bicycle.  The bike rider was killed from the impact of the vehicle.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police reported that the driver of the truck remained at the scene of the crash, and was fully cooperative.

Police Officer in Bakersfield Strikes Cyclist Causing Fatality

August 26, 2011- A Bakersfield police officer hit and killed a bicyclist Friday afternoon at about 12:45 PM.

Officer Peter Beagley was driving in an unmarked police vehicle, and collided with bicyclist Samuel Dohn Boyd, of Bakersfield, in the 200 block of H street. Beagley was driving north on H Street, and Boyd was riding north, as well, along the east curb line.

As they traveled north, Boyd suddenly turned left and tried to ride west across H street, moving directly in the path of Officer Beagley’s vehicle. Beagley was unable to stop in time and struck Boyd.


Boyd was taken to Kern Medical Center, where he died.

The accident is being investigated by Bakersfield Police Department’s traffic division. Beagley, who has worked for the department for 6 years, has returned to duty.
