Memorial Held for CHP Officers Killed on Highway 99 Fresno

February 24 2014- A memorial was held today for California Highway Patrol officers that were killed on Monday, February 17, 2014.

Officer Juan Jaime Gonzalez and his partner, Officer Brian Mitchio Law died in a car crash that occurred on the Sierra Street exit, off Highway 99.  The officers were responding to a traffic accident, that happened before dawn on President's Day.

Hundreds of officers from various departments across the state joined in the processional to remember their fallen comrades.

Car Accident: Truck Hits House and Phone Pole on in Bakersfield

February 23, 2014- In Bakersfield on Sunday, a hit and run vehicle accident caused damage to a telephone pole and a nearby house.

A red truck was driving on Niles Road when it crashed into the pole, drove through a dirt lot, and finally running into a home that was near the street.

The suspect ran away, on foot, after the crash, and was found in a nearby neighborhood.  The California Highway Patrol now have the suspect in custody.

Fatal Car Crash in East Bakersfield: One Fatality

February 23, 2014- In a remote area of east Bakersfield, a 53 year old man's car crashed Sunday night, and the driver was killed.

On the roads of Caliente Creek and Franceschi, Michael Baker's vehicle as he was driving around a switchback, lost control and flipped.  The car came to a stop after it hit a tree.

According to officials, Baker got out of his car after running into the tree.  He was found unconscious by emergency responders.  He died from his injuries.

Fatal Car Accident Kills Man and Woman in Terra Bella

February 24, 2014- A car crash killed two people Monday morning, near Terra Bella, California.  

A man and a woman were driving in a Volkswagen Jetta, south on Road 248, nearing Avenue 102.  Highway Patrol Sergeant Darrel Giefer stated the woman was driving the vehicle, when for an unknown reason she lost control of the car.

The Jetta swerved off the east side of the road and struck an orange tree.  The car flipped and came to a stop on its roof.  The collision caused the tree to be uprooted.
