It is reported that a driver was travelling westbound in her pickup truck, on Highway 178, when she took a curve too quickly for the wet road conditions, and lost control.

The driver took her hands off the steering wheel, and the truck then went over the edge, falling 45-50 feet down into Kern Canyon. The pickup was stopped by a tree in the canyon.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield.
There were no other passengers in her vehicle.
