The driver of a 2005 Honda Accord, Larry Downs, 41 years old, was traveling in the area of Shields Avenue and Weber Avenue, east of Highway 99. It is reported he was driving too fast and lost control of the Honda. The car left the roadway and smashed into a utility pole.

Emergency officials used the jaws of life to save Downs from the wreckage, but he died at the scene of the crash. Downs was the only one in the Accord.
