A tractor-trailer carrying steel pipes was traveling south on the freeway, when it crashed into the back of a tanker truck that was hauling milk.
The incident caused the closure of the two right lanes of Highway 99, until emergency crews could clean up the wreckage.
The driver of the big rig hauling pipes, sustained moderate injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield.
Issues still remaining to be investigated include
determining the speed of the semi truck, whether road conditions may have
contributed to this accident, and whether there was a malfunction in the vehicle.
