December 20, 2014- A Porterville man was killed in a vehicle accident with a semi truck, on Highway 198. The pickup truck collision happened just west of Visalia, on Saturday, at about 1:42 PM.
A white, 1999 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, driven by Joseph Oliveira, 44 years old, was traveling east on Highway 198, in the left lane. For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet drifted into the right lane of the freeway, and smashed into the back of a big rig carrying milk. The accident took place east of Road 60.
Oliveira was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. It has been reported that he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident.
The driver of the semi truck, William Weber, of Visalia, was not injured in the wreck.
The collision is under investigation.
