Fatality from Fog-Related Semi Truck Collision on Highway 41, in Fresno County

On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, a fog-related vehicle collision involving three semi trucks, and one pickup truck took place in Fresno County.  The fatal big rig accident happened on Highway 41, at about 3 AM.

A Foster Farms poultry truck was on the north Highway 41 freeway, pulled over on the side of the road, near Central Avenue.  The driver, from Livingston, of the tractor trailer, that was carrying chickens, was out of his cab on the shoulder of the highway, for an unknown reason.

Brandon Russell, of Visalia, was driving a tanker truck northbound on the freeway, when the vehicle crashed into the Foster Farms rig.  The crash caused the poultry truck to jackknife across the highway.  The driver of the poultry truck got pinned underneath a front tire of his vehicle for about 40 minutes.

The initial accident was then the scene for two other crashes.  A pickup truck, driven by Mario Moreno, of Riverdale, smashed into the original wreck.  Then another Foster Farms semi, driven by Hoscar Rodriguez, of Fresno, hit shortly afterward.

The Livingston man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.  He died while in the hospital.

Russell also sustained major injuries, and Moreno minor injuries.  They were taken to Community Regional for treatment, as well.

The CHP  reported that the foggy weather played a major factor in the collisions.

The scene of the accident should be independently inspected as soon as possible, please let us help you.  Call Attorney Rozier at 559-713-0159 or online at www.nelsonrozier.com.
