September 27, 2014- A big rig accident on Highway 99 leaves one man fatally wounded, in Kern County. The semi truck collision occurred in Bakersfield, on Saturday, at about 6 PM.
Horacio Ramirez Herrera, of Delano, was driving northbound on Highway 99, in a silver Hyundai Sonata. He was just south of Lerdo Highway, when he lost control of the Hyundai and smashed into the back of a tractor trailer.
The car was dragged for approximately 300 feet before the semi pulled over and stopped.
Herrera was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His passenger suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital. The big rig driver was reported to have been uninjured.
