The man was driving a 1994 Mazda south on Highway 33 when he drifted off the roadway to the right and then swerved back onto the road. The quick turn caused the man to veer across the southbound lane into oncoming traffic and hit a 2007 Toyota with five passengers from Paso Robles, that was headed north.
The Toyota's driver Scott Martini, 33, had minor injuries. Passengers Roselle Martini, 32, and three children, ages 6, 7 and 13, had minor to moderate injuries. They were all taken by ambulance to Hanford Medical Center for treatment. The Mazda driver was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
