March 24, 2015- A vehicle accident involving a train and semi truck took place in Oildale on Tuesday. The Kern County big rig crash happened at about midnight, at Manor Street and Norris Road.
An oil tanker truck was northbound on an access road, east of Manor Street. The semi drove over the tracks, near the intersection of Norris Road. As the big rig was crossing the tracks a locomotive started to back up and ran into the vehicle.
The driver of the semi truck was pinned inside the cab, until emergency teams were able to get him out. He sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield.
The train conductor was also hurt, but only minor injuries.
