A 1994 Buick LaSabre, driven by Catalino Santos-Martinez, of Madera, was driving with his two passengers; Faustino Ambrocio, and Raul Lucero, also of Madera. The Buick was traveling south on 19th Avenue, when it drove through a posted stop sign at the intersection of Laurel Avenue.
As the LaSabre entered the intersection it was broadsided by a black, 2015 Dodge Ram, that did not have a stop sign on Laurel Ave. The Dodge pickup truck, which was driven by Elias Pacheco, was traveling east at 55 mph when the collision happened.
The impact caused the automobile to continue off the southbound roadway and hit two power poles.
The downed power poles caused outages to 493 customers for about 5 hours.
Martinez, Ambrocio, and Lucero, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Pacheco complained of minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital.
