A semi truck collision took the life of a Porterville woman, on Monday, November 17, 2014. The big rig accident happened in Tulare County, north of Visalia, at about 7:10 PM.
A Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by Navor Hernandez, of Bakersfield, was driving southbound on Road 80, and about 55 mph. At the intersection of Road 80 and Avenue 368, the rig drove through a red light and collided with a Toyota 4Runner.
The Toyota, was driven by Olivia Thomason/Thompson, who was headed east on Avenue 368. Thomason had a green light at the intersection when the semi truck struck her vehicle.
The impact of the collision pushed the 4Runner across the street where it hit a Chevrolet Trailblazer, that was being driven by William Celaya, of Dinuba.
Thomason was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hernandez suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Celaya wasn't hurt in the crash.
