A tractor-trailer that was carrying onions was pulled over on the shoulder of the southbound highway. A second semi truck was driving south on Highway 99, and crashed into the parked vehicle.
The impact of the two rigs sent onions and other debris over all the lanes of traffic. The southbound highway was closed until the accident could be cleared.
The two drivers sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Issues still remaining to be investigated include
determining the speed of the big rig, whether road conditions may have
contributed to this accident, and whether the facts of this accident as
reported are accurate.
