March 28 wrongful death antenna accident in Modesto
On March 28 Jeremy Regalado was killed when he was electrocuted in a wrongful death accident in Modesto. Regalado was setting up a 35 to 40 foot tall antenna with Daniel Avila and another crew member when a gust of wind blew the antenna into a power line. Avila and Regalado were both struck with electricity. Avila suffered second-degree burns and Regalado was killed. The antenna was part of the set up for a bike race and would allow race officials to talk to each other via radio. According to Avila, Regalado was very experienced at setting up these antenna and had done so next to power lines before. The organization had used the antennas for 7 to 8 years without any previous problems. http://www.nelsonrozier.com/
