Miguel Hernandez, of Fresno, was driving east, in a 2011 Chevy Aveo, on Highway 152. For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet drove across the center median and into westbound traffic at about 65-70 miles per hour.
The Aveo crashed head-on with a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500 pickup truck, driven by Arthur Banks of Clovis. The vehicle then collided with an SUV that was directly behind the GMC. A 2011 Chevy Tahoe, that was driven by Nora Nichols of Milpitas.
A 2015 Volvo semi truck, driven by Deshawn Alexis, of North Port, Florida, was unable to avoid the crash. The big rig swerved into the guardrail, and then smashed into the GMC truck.
Miguel Hernandez, and Arthur Banks suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to a Modesto hospital.
Michal Bushell of North Port Florida, a passenger in the tractor-trailer, sustained minor injuries.
Deshawn Alexis, and Nora Nichols were reported to have not been injured.
