A 1995 Honda Civic, driven by a 31 year old Kingsburg man, was driving south on Highway 41, approaching Jersey Avenue. The driver reportedly crossed into the northbound lane of the highway, and smashed head-on into a 1997 Dodge pickup truck.
Raymond Treubel, 28, who was going north in a 2011 Isuzu van, attempted to avoid the initial crash. The van swerved out of the way, but then veered off the roadway and hit a tree.
The Honda's driver died at the scene of the accident.
An elderly Shaver Lake couple; Robert, and Idalia Perez, both 65, were the occupants in the truck. They were seriously injured and were both airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.
Treubel did not seek medical attention.
