The CHP reported that a Jeep, driven by Billy Joe Barrett, 72, of Porterville, was traveling west on Highway 190. The Jeep veered off the highway, and smashed into the back of a Tulare County truck, filled with road signs, that was parked on the shoulder of the road.
The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to spin around and a Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Donald Wayne Wright, 56, collided with the side of the Jeep.
Barrett sustained moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Sierra View Medical Center. His passenger, Bridget Lynn Holland, 40, of Porterville, suffered major injuries to her legs. She was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.
The motorcyclist, Don Wright, received minor injuries. The county truck driver; 19 year old Austin Ralph Bodley, of Strathmore, also sustained minor injuries, but refused medical treatment.
The California Highway Patrol said that alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
Issues
still remaining to be investigated; determining whether road conditions may
have contributed to this accident, and any malfunctions of the vehicle.
