October 30, 2009--An 83 year old pedestrian was struck and killed last Friday in the Tulare County town of Orosi. Marcos De La Torre was walking across Highway 63 wearing dark clothing when he was hit by a 1998 Chevy Silverado. The driver took some evasive action and could not avoid impact. Poor lighting conditions may have been a factor. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision
The CHP investigation continues as to the cause of this accident. The pedestrian was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver who struck him was identified as Gilberto Martinez.
