Two Car Collision on Highway 65 near Strathmore

December 30, 2011- A crash on Highway 65, near Strathmore, caused one woman to suffer major injuries, on Friday at about 6:13 AM.

Jennifer Dawn Irons, of Exeter, was driving a 1993 Chevy southbound on Highway 65, just north of Avenue 196.

Santiago Cortez Anaya, was driving a 2002 Ford on the highway and made an unsafe lane change.

Irons was unable to avoid Anaya's vehicle and the two cars collided.

Melissa Acuna, a passenger in the Ford, was seriously injured and taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, in Visalia.

Irons received minor injuries and was also taken to Kaweah Delta Medical. While Anaya received minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital.

It is reported that all three occupants of the vehicles were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Interstate 5 Crash Leads to a Double Fatality

September 24, 2011- A 22-year-old man and his 21-year-old female passenger died early Saturday morning, when they crashed head-on with another vehicle on Interstate 5, south of the Kern County, Kings County border.

The man, who was from Oceanside, was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer northbound on I-5, just after midnight, when he drove through the center median and into the southbound lanes of I-5.

The driver crashed head-on with Antonio Romero, of Los Angeles, who was driving a 2005 Mitsubishi truck. Both vehicles overturned and ended up stopping on the southbound shoulder.

Romero was taken to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield, by ambulance to be treated for moderate injuries.

The driver of the SUV and his passenger, who was from Vista, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released at this time.

It is reported that all were wearing seatbelts. The crash is under investigation.

Update: Intoxicated Driver Named in Fatal I-5 Collision

August 30, 2011- The intoxicated man who crashed into the Ford Explorer, and killed Shirley Ann Snyder of Moreno Valley, in Tuesday’s fatal crash on I-5 has been identified as 49 year old Wayne Boatwright.

He was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Passat, which he drove the wrong way on I-5 before colliding with the Ford Explorer head on.

The other people involved and hurt in the accident were Charles Snyder, the driver of the Ford, and passengers April Murphy and Donnell Watts.

The CHP announced on Tuesday that they intend to arrest Boatwright once he is released from the hospital.

Update: Intoxicated Driver Causes Fatality on I-5

August 30, 2011- The woman killed on Tuesday, by the intoxicated man driving the wrong way on Interstate 5, has been identified as Shirley Snyder.

The other occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital with major to moderate injuries.

Intoxicated Driver Causes Fatality While Driving Wrong Way on I-5

August 30, 2011- An intoxicated man drives his car the wrong way on I-5, north of Hwy 41, killing one person and injuring three others, early Tuesday morning.

The Highway Patrol has reported that the San Francisco man was driving a 2001 Volkswagen south on the northbound lanes, while under the influence, just south of Lassen Avenue.

Charles Snyder, of Moreno Valley, was headed north in his 2002 Ford Explorer, with three other passengers. The intoxicated man collided head-on with Snyder’s vehicle. The right front female passenger, in the Ford, was killed when the vehicles collided.

Snyder complained of pain in his right leg. His other two passengers, April Murphy, of Moreno Valley, and Donnell Watts, of Riverside, were also hurt. Murphy suffered a severed liver, fractured hip, and cuts to her face. While Watts, complained of pain in his neck.

The drunk driver fractured his neck, right hand, and several ribs.

All injured parties were taken to the local hospital.
