Skateboard and Big Rig Crash at Union and California Avenues, in Bakersfield

An update to the semi truck accident that occurred on Thursday, June 25, 2015, in Bakersfield.  The skateboarder that was struck by the big rig has died.  He has been identified as 17 year old, Blas Nahum Sandoval.

The tractor-trailer made a turn from south Union Avenue onto west California Avenue.  It is reported that the woman driver had a green light.

Witnesses claimed that Sandoval did not wait for the semi truck to fully turn before he entered the crosswalk at the intersection.  The skateboarder ran into the rear wheels of the double trailer.

Sandoval suffered major injuries and was rushed to Kern Medical Center.  He later died in the hospital.

Skateboarder Seriously Injured After Collision With Semi Truck, in Bakersfield

Officers reported that the tractor-trailer crash occurred in the area of East California Avenue, and Union Avenue.  The skateboarder appears to be a teenager.

The teen was said to have suffered serious injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center.  He was last listed as being in critical condition.

Multi-Vehicle Accident in Bakersfield on State Route 58

November 13, 2014- A 9-car pileup was reported by the CHP in Kern County on Thursday.  The multiple vehicle collision occurred in Bakersfield, on Highway 58, at about 8 AM.

The California Highway Patrol said that at least one of the vehicles involved in the crash caught fire.  The incident blocked the fast lane of the freeway, east of Union Avenue.  The median was also blocked.  Traffic was slowed until the accident could be investigated and the wreckage cleared.

Multi-Vehicle Accident on Westbound Highway 58 in Bakersfield

Tulare County Personal Injury Lawyer John Rozier has the following accident update; On Monday, November 17, 2014, a multi-vehicle crash backed up traffic in Bakersfield.  The Kern County car collision occurred on Highway 58, before 9:30 AM.

The three-vehicle accident took place on westbound Highway 58 and Union Avenue.  It blocked the #1 lane of the freeway, and backed up traffic to Mount Vernon Avenue.

Reports say that there were injuries as a result of the incident.

Man Struck by Hit and Run Vehicle in Bakersfield

May 9, 2014- A pedestrian was hurt in a hit-and-run vehicle accident, in Kern County.  The collision took place in Bakersfield, Friday, at about 8:51 PM.

The pedestrian was crossing the roadway on Union Avenue, south of California Avenue, outside the marked crosswalk.  He was struck by a dark colored, four door compact car, before the vehicle fled the scene of the accident.  Officers report that the car sped away north on Union Avenue.

The man who was hit by the car was taken to the hospital to be treated for moderate to major injuries.

Man Arrested in Bakersfield after High Speed Chase and Car Crash

February 26, 2014- A car crash happened in southwest Bakersfield, after a driver tried to run from the police, on Wednesday.

The Police Department tried to pull over a man at the intersection of White Lane and Gosford Road.  The driver refused to stop and lead the cops on a 100 mile per hour chase.  The officers called off the chase, before any innocent bystanders were hurt.

Shortly thereafter, the driver collided into a fence near South Union Avenue and Taft Highway.  The man got out of his vehicle after the accident and ran away on foot.

Police caught and arrested the driver, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Out of Control Car Crashes into Tow Yard in Bakersfield

December 24, 2011- A Bakersfield man was fatally injured in a crash on South Union Avenue, late Saturday night. The accident occurred north of Old Yard Drive.

The 27 year-old driver, Ariel Paredez, was traveling south down Union Avenue when he allowed his Toyota to travel onto the right shoulder of the road, where it struck a concrete curb.

The man lost control of the vehicle, and it hit a building and continued south and hit another building, which took the roof off the Toyota.

The Toyota then crashed through a chain link fence into a tow yard, where hit slammed into three parked vehicles before it crashed through another fence where it finally came to rest.

The driver was taken to the hospital, where he was died. A passenger in the car, Leno Paredez, was injured but refused to be taken to the hospital.

Motorcycle Rider Collides with Big Rig in Bakersfield

October 29, 2011- A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a big rig, in Bakersfield. The accident happened at about 5 PM, Saturday evening.

The CHP reported that a semi truck was traveling on Union Avenue, near Houghton Road. The truck was turning left onto another road when the motorcycle crashed into the back of it.

The rider was thrown from his bike. He suffered serious injuries.

Officers report that it appears the motorcyclist didn’t make any attempts to brake before slamming into the back of the semi. They do not believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.

The big rig driver was uninjured.
