Hit and Run Car Collision Leaves Livingston Man Fatally Wounded

June 7, 2014- A hit-and-run accident leaves one man dead, in Merced County.  The vehicle collision took place in Livingston, on Saturday, at about 11 PM.

A pedestrian, Choudhry Mohammad, 63 years old, was walking down Briarwood Drive at F Street.  As he was walking he was struck by a gray SUV, and dragged down the road for about 100 feet or more.

Minutes after hitting Mohammad, the Sport Utility Vehicle swerved off the road and over an embankment, at Emerald Drive and Peach Avenue.  The driver then fled the scene of the crash.

Choudhry Mohammad was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Officers are still looking for the driver of the SUV.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Campbell Blvd in Livingston

May 23, 2014- A planning commissioner from Livingston was killed in a motorcycle accident, on Friday.  The Merced County vehicle collision took place at about 6 PM.

Michael Silva, who was the planning commissioner for the town of Livingston, was riding his motorcycle east on Campbell Boulevard.  For reasons unknown Silva lost control of the bike, and it left the roadway near Hammatt Avenue, and crashed.

Silva was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

In a separate incident, only a little while later in the same area, another motorcyclist also crashed.  That biker sustained only minor injuries in that accident.

Two Car Collision Near Livingston

November 8, 2011- Three people were seriously hurt in a crash south of Livingston, just north of Fresno, Tuesday afternoon.

A Honda Accord driven by Victor Curiel of Atwater, was traveling east on Sunset Boulevard at about 50-60 mph. Another Honda Accord, driven by Mario Garcia of Livingston, was headed north on Howard Road at 40-50 mph.

Curiel ran the stop sign posted at the intersection of Sunset and Howard. His car crashed into the left front side of Garcia’s vehicle.

Garcia, and passengers, Efrain Lopez and Malakias Perez, both of Livingston, suffered major injuries. They were taken to Modesto hospitals for treatment. Curiel received moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Merced.

June 23 Livingston accident kills one

On June 23 a man was killed in a two-vehicle accident at Central and Liberty Avenues in Livingston. Reportedly the victim, a Merced resident, was driving east on Liberty Avenue approaching Central Avenue. Meanwhile Reginald Bronson was driving south on Central Avenue approaching Liberty Avenue. The victim failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and drove right into the path of Bronson's Ford. The front of the Ford hit the driver's side of the victim's Honda. The victim was airlifted to a Modesto hospital where he later died.

January 14 fatal pedestrian accident in Livingston

On January 14 a man was killed after being hit by a Freightliner on Highway 99 near Winton Parkway in Merced County. Reportedly the Freightliner was driving south on Highway 99 carrying a double trailer full of wine when a man was crossing the road going west and stepped in front of the big rig. The driver of the big rig, Martin Muniz applied the brakes and turned the big rig but was unable to avoid hitting the man. The victim suffered major injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center where he later died. The driver of the big rig was not injured in the accident.

August 30 big rig accident on Highway 99 near Livingston

On August 30 Johnathan Kendall was injured when he crashed his big rig on Highway 99 near Livingston in Merced County. Reportedly Kendall was driving southbound in the slow lane when for unknown reasons he veered off the right shoulder of the road and lost control of the truck. The truck then returned to the road and turned on its side in the median of the freeway. Kendall suffered minor injuries.
