May 16 accident near Porterville

On May 16 Efren Garcia and Aquileo Castro were injured in an accident near Porterville. Reportedly Garcia was driving on Mountain Road 137 near Success Valley Drive when his Hyundai left the road and hit a barbed-wire fence and then a tree. Garcia and Castro both suffered major injuries. Two other passengers, Jose Tolentino and Saloman Silvestre, were treated at the hospital and released. May 16 Salida Train accident

On May 16 William Hamilton was killed when he was hit by a train in Salida. The accident happened near the Murphy Road/North Dakota Avenue and Salida Avenue crossing. The train conductor reported seeing the man running across the tracks and attempting to stop the train in time. He was unable to stop the train in time and hit the man.
