Update: Highway 180 Pedestrian Fatality in Fresno County

March 6, 2014- The pedestrian has been identified that was killed in an accident on Thursday in Fresno County.

The 61 year old woman has been identified as Leang Kim Uk, of Fresno.  She was killed on Highway 180, as she was weaving in and out of traffic in the middle of the highway, near Grantland Avenue.

The driver, Gloria Campos, that struck Uk, is reported to have been travelling at about 60 mph.  She didn't see the woman until it was too late.  Campos tried to swerve, but couldn't avoid hitting her.

Officials have said that the road on Highway 180 is not well lit, making it hard for drivers to see.

Highway 180 Pedestrian Fatality in Fresno County

March 6, 2014- A pedestrian was killed while walking on Highway 180, in Fresno County, Thursday night.  The fatal crash happened at about 7:00 PM.

The accident occurred when the 61 year old woman was walking east on Highway 180, near Grantland Avenue, in and out of traffic on the westbound side of the road.  She was hit by a car driven by Gloria Campos, of Kerman.

Campos stated that she saw the pedestrian at the last minute and tried to swerve, but it was too late to stop before hitting the woman.

Officers stated that there are no street lights in that area of the highway, so it is very difficult for drivers to see.

There is an ongoing investigation.
