School Bus Accident on Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield, One Killed

On Friday, May 1, 2015, a school bus, carrying eight children, and a car collided in Kern County.  The vehicle accident ended in fatality for one victim and left one other seriously hurt, in east Bakersfield, at about 2:36 PM.

A 1994 Acura, was driving west on East Truxtun Avenue, at reportedly a high rate of speed.  At the same time a Bakersfield City School District bus, driven by 72 year old Janet Foster, was headed east on Truxtun Avenue, about to turn north onto Gage Street.  The bus was carrying students home from College Heights Elementary School.

The school bus stopped for traffic and then pulled out into the intersection.  As Foster turned she noticed the Acura speeding towards the bus.  She hit the brakes, but was too late and the front of the bus collided with the left side of the Acura.

The automobile's driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.  He died at the scene of the collision.  The passenger in the Acura suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Janet Foster and the children on the bus were not hurt in the accident.

Motorcycle Accident Leaves Rider Seriously Injured in Bakersfield

April 14, 2014- A motorcyclist involved in a hit-and-run vehicle accident, sustained major injuries, in Kern County on Monday.  The crash happened in Bakersfield, in the afternoon.

The driver of a van ran a stop sign at Miller Street and the intersection of East Truxtun Avenue.  The van collided with a motorcycle driven by a 90 year old man.  The impact of the collision, sent the motorcyclist to the hospital with serious injuries, including his left leg severed.

The van fled the scene of the accident, after hitting the rider of the bike.  Officers are still trying to find the driver of the van.

Update: One Killed and Others Injured in a Crash in Bakersfield

December 14, 2011- An update to the fatal crash that happened in Bakersfield on Truxtun Avenue, Wednesday, at about 1:04 PM. The accident happened between a Cadillac and a medical transport van.

Both wheelchair passengers have been reported to have been securely fastened, with the chairs strapped down, and the passengers secured in seat belts. One of them was killed and the other majorly injured.

The driver of the Cadillac has been identified at Helen Louise Watson Patterson. While the driver of the van was Desiree Rene Foglesong.

The van is owned by Valley Medical Transport.

One Killed and Others Injured in a Crash in Bakersfield

December 14, 2011- One person was killed and two others injured in a crash, on Wednesday in Bakersfield, at about 1:04 PM.

An older woman was driving a silver Cadillac east on Truxtun Avenue, when she tried to turn north onto Westwind Drive. She pulled right into the path of a medical transportation van that was taking three passengers west on Truxtun. Two of those passengers were wheelchair bound.

The impact from the collision caused the van to leave the road and run up into a disabled access ramp, finally coming to rest after hitting a tree outside of Camino Real restaurant.



A woman passenger died in an ambulance as it was on its way to Kern Medical Center. Another woman from the van suffered serious injuries and was also taken to Kern Medical. It is reported that she is in critical condition. Both women were the ones that were in wheelchairs.

The woman who was driving the van, and a male passenger were not injured in the accident.

The Cadillac driver received moderate injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
