Accident on I-5 Kills Man near Sacramento

February 22, 2014- Eight days after a crash, a Sacramento man dies from an injury that was caused by a tire smashing through his windshield.  The accident occurred on Friday, February 14th.

The driver was 31 year old Kyle Hubbard.  He was driving north on Interstate 5, when a wheel came off a tractor trailer vehicle that was traveling in the southbound lanes.  The tire flew across the freeway's divide and went through Hubbard's window.  There was a passenger in his car, but they were not hurt.

The CHP reported that Kyle received major head trauma, and passed away in the hospital on Saturday.

The collision is still under investigation.

Drunken bicyclists running into trouble

October 30, 2009--In a new twist on an old theme, now driving while peddling is the latest criminal fad.  CHP officers last week began to crackdown on bicyclists who ride while under the influence. 7 citations were issued for just such an offense in Sacramento recently.  Most states including California mandate enforcement of the same rules for bike riders as for car drivers.  The fine is $250 in California.

High Speed Rail bypasses Visalia

October 29, 2009--California's long-awaited high speed rail just got one step closer yesterday.  A public relations firm in Sacramento will earn $9 million to spread the gospel of commuter rail.  The Central Valley has long been chained to the congested Highway 99 corridor, and yet the question remains whether enough riders will use a high speed rail if one is ever built.  The latest route indicates bypassing Visalia in favor of Hanford although this really determines who gets the large parking lot such a rail station will entail.  Perhaps a 15 minute vehicle commute to Hanford will work out just fine.  www.nelsonrozier.com
