June 23 ATV accident kills Oakdale teen
On June 23 Kaitlynn Louis of Oakdale was killed when the ATV she was riding was hit by a vehicle just east of Modesto. Reportedly Louis was riding along a canal bank that ran parallel to McGee Avenue when she turned onto Rice Road. Shortly after turning onto Rice she was hit by a westbound Chevrolet driven by James Rebiero. Louis was then thrown from the ATV and later taken to Memorial Medical Center where she later died. Ribiero suffered minor injuries.

June 4 fatal accident in Modesto
On June 4 a Modesto woman died in a wrongful death accident on West Briggsmore Avenue near Tully Road in Modesto. According to reports her vehicle was headed east on West Briggsmore when she lost control of the vehicle, went off the south side of the road, and hit some small trees. This accident is still under investigation, but alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

April 28 Modesto bicycle accident on Modesto puts 12-year-old girl in critical condition
On April 28 Na'Keisha White was put in a coma after she was hit by a pickup truck while riding her bike on Carver Road in Modesto. Reportedly White was riding north on Carver Road across Briggsmore Avenue when she was hit by a pickup truck and thrown from her bike. She was given CPR by a neighbor before emergency crews arrived. White is now in critical condition at Children's Hospital and Research Center in Oakland where she has been placed in a medically induce coma to help her brain swelling subside. No further information regarding the identity of the driver or the cause of the accident are available at this time.

March 21 accident on Scenic Drive in Modesto
On March 21 a woman and her dog were injured in an accident in Modesto. According to reports the woman was driving east on Scenic Drive when, for unknown reason, she lost control of her vehicle. Then she hit a light pole near Bodem Street and knocked it over. The driver was pinned in her vehicle until rescue crews removed the door and pulled her out. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries. The dog in the vehicle dog was taken by animal control officers to a local shelter.

February 14 wrongful death accident in Ceres
In the early morning hours of February 14 Johnny Lopez and Jose Beltran, both students at Johansen High School in Modesto, were killed in a wrongful death accident in Ceres involving a stolen vehicle. According to reports the two boys along with two others were riding in a car that had been stolen from Ceres then took it on a joy ride. The 16-year-old, unidentified driver lost control of the vehicle on River Road, hit a curb, left the road, hit a fire hydrant, turned on its side and hit a tree, roof first. Lopez and Beltran were passengers in the car. The driver and the 15-year-old, unidentified passenger are being charged with possession of a stolen car. The driver is also facing charges of vehicular manslaughter.

February 1 wrongful death accident on Highway 99 in Modesto
On February 1 Max Cabrera was killed in a single-vehicle, wrongful death accident on Highway 99 in Modesto. Reportedly Cabrera was driving south on Highway 99 south of Kansas Avenue when he went across the southbound lanes and off the road. His vehicle then hit a concrete wall, continued south, and then hit a road sign and a tree. Cabrera was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

December 1 accident in Modesto on Scenic Drive
On December 1 there was an accident on Scenic Drive near Eastridge Drive in Modesto. Reportedly a Jeep drifted across the middle line going around 50 mph and subsequently hit a pickup truck that was also traveling about 50 mph. The drivers of both vehicles were pinned in their respective vehicles. Both drivers suffered major injuries, but only the injuries sustained by the driver of the Jeep are considered to be potentially life threatening.

October 22 Modesto accident on Briggsmore Avenue
On October 22 a car went airborn and crashed while driving on Briggsmore Avenue near McHenry Avenue in Modesto. Reportedly the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when her vehicle went airborn and flipped and hit two parked cars. The driver and her passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
October 20 Highway 99 big rig accident kills one
On October 20 there was an accident on Highway 99 in Modesto involving a big rig and 4 other vehicles that killed one person. Reportedly the big rig failed to stop for slowing traffic and then triggered a five-vehicle, chain-reaction accident. The driver of a Nissan Frontier was declared dead at the scene of the accident. A passenger in the Nissan is reported to have suffered major injuries. Four other people are reported to have suffered minor injuries. The five cars had slowed down near the Carpenter Road-Briggsmore Avenue overpass for an unknown reason when the big rig failed to stop in time hitting the Nissan and pushing it into the other vehicles.

October 10 wrongful death accident in Modesto
On October 10 sixteen-year-old Frankie Martinez Jr. was tragically killed and eighteen-year-old Nazario Castillo was injured in an accident at Jefferson Street and Maze Boulevard in Bakersfield. According to reports Martinez was driving a pickup truck north on Jefferson with Castillo as a passenger when he did not stop at a stop sign at Jefferson and Maze. His pickup then hit a Suburban that was driving on Maze Boulevard. Castillo was injured with a broken shoulder and a broken nose. The people in the Suburban complained of pain. Martinez died as a result of the accident. Alcohol containers were found in Martinez's vehicle and the accident is being investigated as a possible dui.

September 21 wrongful death pedestrian accident in Modesto
On September 21 Lorna Jean Holbrook was killed after being hit by a car in Modesto. According to reports Holbrook was crossing Yosemite Boulevard in Modesto when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle drove away from the scene of the accident. The death of Holbrook marks the 13th fatality in Stanislaus County this year from a pedestrian or bicycle versus vehicle accident.

May 15 three car accident on Highway 99 in Modesto
On May 15 three vehicles were involved in an accident on Highway 99 near Staniford Avenue in Modesto. The accident happened in the southbound lanes of the highway. One vehicle ended up on the embankment of the highway and had to be secured in order for firefighters to free a woman who was trapped inside. Another vehicle caught fire as a result of the accident. May 10 Modesto accident on Orangeburg Avenue injures 12-year-old boy
On May 10 a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured in an accident on West Orangeburg Avenue in Modesto. reportedly a pickup truck hit a BMW on the passenger side trapping the boy in the vehicle. The driver of the BMW and another passenger walked away with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup was not injured. The pickup had gone three feet into the BMW, trapping the boy, and requiring emergency crews to remove the roof and dashboard of the car to free him. March 28 wrongful death antenna accident in Modesto
On March 28 Jeremy Regalado was killed when he was electrocuted in a wrongful death accident in Modesto. Regalado was setting up a 35 to 40 foot tall antenna with Daniel Avila and another crew member when a gust of wind blew the antenna into a power line. Avila and Regalado were both struck with electricity. Avila suffered second-degree burns and Regalado was killed. The antenna was part of the set up for a bike race and would allow race officials to talk to each other via radio. According to Avila, Regalado was very experienced at setting up these antenna and had done so next to power lines before. March 22 wrongful death bicycle accident in Modesto on Claus Road near Scenic Drive
On March 22 William Foltz was killed in a wrongful death bicycle accident in Modesto on Claus Road near Scenic Drive. Reportedly Foltz was trying to cross into the left lane from the right lane when he was hit from behind. Witnesses reported that Foltz was wearing a helmet, had signaled, but did not check to see that the lane was clear before entering it. Foltz suffered serious injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center where he later died. the driver of the pickup truck that hit Foltz is not being cited at this time. March 16 Highway 99 Modesto accident victims still hospitalized
The victims from the March 16 Highway 99 accident in Modesto are still hospitalized at this time. Leslee Marie Nelson was the driver of the Acura that went off the Highway near Kansas Avenue and hit a tree. Nelson left the freeway after a failed attempt to pass a BMW. Passengers in the Acura, Brandon Lee Fairchilds, Camron Sutton, and Alyssa Nelson were all injured in the accident. Isabel Marie Chavez was the driver of the BMW. Chavez was also injured. March 16 Highway 99 accident in Modesto injures three
On March 16 three people were seriously injured in an accident on Highway 99 near Kansas Avenue in Modesto. The vehicle involved was an Acura driven by an 18-year-old woman. The woman and the 21-year-old male passenger were taken by ambulance to the hospital. The second injured passenger was an 8-year-old boy. He was taken to a hospital in Sacramento. A third passenger, a one-year-old child was in a child safety seat and was not injured. Reportedly the accident happened when the driver veered the car off the road to avoid a vehicle collision and hit a tree. The previous accident occurred when a vehicle made an unsafe turn and sideswiped a BMW. The impact of the accident pushed the BMW into the path of the Acura. On March 15 a Modesto man was killed in a wrongful death accident at Road 152 and Highway 190 in Tulare County. Reportedly the man was traveling northbound on Road 152 when he failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a pickup truck. The pickup was traveling on Highway 190 and was driven by Lawrence Billiou.
