August 31, 2011- A school bus carrying 68 kids was hit by a driver who ran a stop sign, in Fresno, as he was being pursued by the CHP. The accident happened near Jensen Avenue and Pullman Avenue, in southeast Fresno.
The children were on their way home from Southeast Elementary school when the crash happened. The car that ran the stop sign, hit the front end of the bus.
The kids had to take the emergency exit, because the impact caused the normal exit to buckle. Neither the kids nor the bus driver were hurt in the accident. Another bus was called to take the children home.
The driver of the car, tried to flee the scene of the collision, but was quickly captured. He was arrested for misdemeanor hit-and-run, DUI, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
