John Pehrson, 42 years old, was driving a 2006 Toyota Tacoma, north on Highway 99. As the Toyota neared Herndon Avenue, the pickup truck smashed into the back of a semi truck that had slowed down to avoid debris that had been in the freeway.
Pehrson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
