March 4 fatal rollover accident in Stanislaus County

On March 4 one man was killed and five other people were injured in a rollover accident on I-5 near Newman in Stanislaus County. According to reports Paula Jacobo was traveling north on I-5 in a Ford Expedition when she made a sudden lane change. Then she sharply turned left and lost control of the vehicle. The Expedition then left the road and rolled over. She was traveling with an adult male passenger and four children. The man and three of the four children in the vehicle were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.  The three unbuckled children were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. The driver and the fourth child were wearing seat belts and only suffered minor injuries. However, the man was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

October 22 Modesto accident on Briggsmore Avenue

On October 22 a car went airborn and crashed while driving on Briggsmore Avenue near McHenry Avenue in Modesto. Reportedly the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when her vehicle went airborn and flipped and hit two parked cars. The driver and her passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

October 20 Highway 99 big rig accident kills one


On October 20 there was an accident on Highway 99 in Modesto involving a big rig and 4 other vehicles that killed one person. Reportedly the big rig failed to stop for slowing traffic and then triggered a five-vehicle, chain-reaction accident. The driver of a Nissan Frontier was declared dead at the scene of the accident. A passenger in the Nissan is reported to have suffered major injuries. Four other people are reported to have suffered minor injuries. The five cars had slowed down near the Carpenter Road-Briggsmore Avenue overpass for an unknown reason when the big rig failed to stop in time hitting the Nissan and pushing it into the other vehicles.

October 9 accident in Ceres

On October 9 three people suffered injuries after an accident in Ceres. According to reports the driver of a stolen Toyota Camry refused to pull over for the cops. He then proceeded to run a red light at Central Avenue and Whitmore Road. The stolen vehicle then hit a car with 2 women inside. The driver of the Camry and the 2 women all suffered injuries and had to be removed from the vehicle. All three were treated at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto and were listed in stable condition.

September 28 pedestrian accident in Turlock

On September 28 a teenage boy was injured in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident near Turlock in Stanislaus County. According to reports the boy was hit by a tan pickup that left after hitting the boy. While the boy seemed to only have suffered minor injuries he was taken via air to a local hospital as an extra precaution. It turns out he suffered minor to moderate injuries. September 21 wrongful death pedestrian accident in Modesto

On September 21 Lorna Jean Holbrook was killed after being hit by a car in Modesto. According to reports Holbrook was crossing Yosemite Boulevard in Modesto when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle drove away from the scene of the accident. The death of Holbrook marks the 13th fatality in Stanislaus County this year from a pedestrian or bicycle versus vehicle accident.

May 10 Modesto accident on Orangeburg Avenue injures 12-year-old boy

On May 10 a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured in an accident on West Orangeburg Avenue in Modesto. reportedly a pickup truck hit a BMW on the passenger side trapping the boy in the vehicle. The driver of the BMW and another passenger walked away with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup was not injured. The pickup had gone three feet into the BMW, trapping the boy, and requiring emergency crews to remove the roof and dashboard of the car to free him. March 19 girl critically injured after falling down stairs in Sonora

On March 19 a two-year-old girl was critically injured after falling down a flight of stairs in Sonora. Reportedly she fell down about seven steps in a Cottage Court home. When a police officer arrived she was unconscious and not breathing. The officer was able to revive her through CPR. She was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center and then air lifted to University Medical Center in Sacramento. March 6 deadly pedestrian accident in Oakdale

On March 6 Michael Harrell was killed in a deadly pedestrian accident in Oakdale. Reportedly Harrell was hit by a car on West F Street. He was not in a crosswalk. Harrell was also reported to have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. He was taken to Doctors Medical Center and placed on life support. February 21 Highway 120-108 rollover accident

On February 21 a pickup truck was involved in a rollover accident on Highway 120-108 near Oakdale. Reportedly the truck rolled several times before coming to a rest in the westbound lanes. There were two people in the car. One was treated for mild to moderate injuries, and the other was not injuried. February 4 wrongful death bicycle accident in Modesto

On February 4 Fermin Duran Jr. was killed in a wrongful death bicycle accident on West Service Road in Modesto. Reportedly Duran had stopped in the eastbound lane when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle. Duran was not wearing a helmet or other protective gear. Duran stopped his bike just east of Ustick Road when the Chevrolet Suburban driven by Pedro Avalos approached him at 65 mph. Due to the rain and slick road conditions, Avalos could not stop the vehicle in time. Avalos and his passengers were not injured. The speed limit in that area is 55 mph for ideal road conditions. January 24 accident resulting in a wrongful death in Modesto near Hatch Road and Carpenter Road

On January 24 a woman was killed in a wrongful death accident when the car she was riding in flew off the road and hit a tree near Hatch Road and Carpenter Road in Modesto. Reportedly Abraham Perez was driving the BMW at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle at a curve in the road. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Perez was arrested on suspicion for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. After being arrested, Perez was taken to Doctors Medical Center to treat his injuries. January 22 Modesto police car accident at I Street and 7th Street

On January 22 a police car was involved in an accident at I Street and 7th Street in Modesto. Reportedly a Ford Explorer driven by a woman and carrying a male passenger failed to stop at a red light and T-boned the police car. January 8 fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 140 in Stanaslaus County

On January 8 a 14-year-old boy from Merced was hit by a car on HIghway 140 in Stanaslaus County. He died on January 10 from injuries related to the accident. Christopher Jesse Rodriguez was reportedly hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 140 near Dell Street. It is unknown why the boy stepped into the roadway in front of the oncoming vehicle driven by Cecelia Aguilar. Aguilar was unable to avoid hitting Rodriguez. http://www.nelsonrozier.com/

December 25 fatal rollover near Turlock

On December 25 a man was killed in an accident on South Central Avenue near West Main Street near Turlock. Reportedly, the man was driving his Honda Accord when he went off the side of the road, hit a utility pole, continued to travel, and rolled several times. The driver was wearing a seatbelt, but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. December 24 fatal accident on Claribel Road and Coffee Road in Modesto

On December 24 a man was killed in an accident on Claribel Road near Coffee Road in Modesto. The accident occurred when the driver of a Toyota Corolla failed to stop at a stop sign. The car was traveling on Coffee Road when it went through the intersection, off the side of the road, turned back and crossed Claribel before hitting a utility pole. As the car hit the pole it spun. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected onto the road. He was then taken to Memorial Medical Center.
