Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Northwest Bakersfield

January 9, 2012- A motorcycle accident leads to one man's death in northwest Bakersfield, on Monday, at about 5:00 AM.

Jonathan Hill, was riding on his motorcycle, when his bike broadsided a car. The car was driven by Francisco Baragan Duran, of Delano.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 7th Standard Road and Zerker Road, when one of the vehicles ran a red light.

Hill was pronounced dead at the scene. Duran suffered minor injuries.

Bakersfield Deputy Slams into Guard Rail

October 27, 2011- A Kern County sheriff’s deputy crashed his patrol car into a guard rail, Thursday at about 12:45 AM.

Deputy Allan Scott Heathcott, a 13 year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was driving west on 7th Standard Road. Less than a mile west of the Highway 99 over crossing. While traveling westbound he slammed into a guard rail in the center divider.

The impact from the accident caused the metal portion of the guard rail to be impaled into the passenger side of the cabin. Heathcott was pinned in his vehicle for an hour and a half, before fire fighters were able to extricate him from the car.

Heathcott suffered major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center to be treated for massive head trauma.

What caused the deputy to hit the guard rail is still unclear. The crash is under investigation.
