Double Big Rig Collision on Highway 99 at Buhach Road, in Atwater

On Wednesday, May 20, 2015, a double semi truck collision took place in Merced County, north of Fresno.  The big rig accident occurred on Highway 99 in Atwater, at around 7:30 AM.

The CHP reported that the crash happened on southbound Highway 99, at Buhach Road.  The collision of the two tractor-trailers sent a truck from the northbound freeway across the concrete center divider and into the south lanes.  The big rig then overturned and spilled grain all over the highway.

The accident led to serious injuries, but no other information is available at this time.

Atwater Collision Between a Motorcycle and Transit Bus on Buhach Road

June 23, 2014- A man died after a collision with a transit bus, in Atwater.  The accident happened in Merced County, on Monday, at about 8:19 PM.

An Atwater officer tried to pull over a motorcyclist, who was spotted driving dangerously, near Juniper Avenue and Buhach Road.  The 1987 Harley Davidson did not stop, but instead took off, traveling south on Buhach.

The police followed the motorcycle, when the bike, after only a minute of pursuit, hit a curb.  The Harley swerved into the intersection of Clover Avenue, and Buhach Rd.  The motorcycle then smashed into a Merced Transit Authority bus, that was turning left onto Buhach.

The motorcycle rider was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The bus driver was alone in the bus, and he was not injured.
