Kern County Collision near Lamont ends Fatally

March 24, 2014- A two vehicle accident near Lamont, south of Bakersfield, leaves one dead and others injured.  The crash happened Monday afternoon, at the intersection of Edison Road and DiGiorgio Road, in Kern County.

A Honda Civic, driven by Enrique Monarez, 38 years old from Bakersfield, was driving on Edison Rd.  He ran a stop sign, and the Civic broadsided a red, Nissan truck that was driven by Jesus Coronado, 64, of Arvin, who had no stop sign on DiGiorgio Rd.

The impact of the collision caused the Nissan to be pushed off the road and then the vehicle flipped over.  A passenger in the pickup, San Juana Coronado, 48 years old, also of Arvin, was ejected during the crash and died from her wounds in the hospital.

Jesus Coronado sustained seriously injuries, while another passenger in the Nissan, Doroteo McCain, received minor injuries.  The Honda's driver, Enrique Monarez, was moderately hurt in the accident.

One Person Killed in a Drunk Driving Accident, near Bakersfield

January 1, 2012- An accident results in the death of an Arvin woman, after being hit by a possible drunk driver, on Sunday, at about 3:30 PM. The crash occurred near Lamont, southeast of Bakersfield.

A Bakersfield man was driving a red truck on Edison Highway, when he ran a stop sign at DiGiorgio Road. He slammed into the side of a white truck, driven by a 58 year-old male who was a resident of Arvin.

Elicia Gutierrez, the passenger in the white truck, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The male driver was taken to Kern Medical Center, after suffering serious injuries.

No word on whether the Bakersfield driver was hurt.
